Over the next week, immerse yourself in poetry. Use your resources (school, classroom, public and home libraries and the internet) to gather and read a variety of poems by different authors. Find poetry that speaks to you, entertains you, enlightens you, and/or inspires you. Choose three poems by three different authors and bring them in on Monday, November 17th. We will conference with you on that day and decide together which poem would be the best one for you to present.
You must memorize your poem and be prepared to present it to the class on Tuesday, December 2nd. You must have an illustrated copy of your poem on that day – the title of the poem, author, your name and class should be included on this paper. It can be typed or hand written. Use paper/poster board that is 8 1/2 x 11” or larger. You will not be able to use this copy to read to the class – your poem must be memorized.
