Door in the Wall Vocabulary

Today the class went over vocabulary words that they will see in the book. They are learning definitions and how to use context clues to help for understanding. The quiz on pages 1-75, and the vocabulary words are scheduled for late next week. Much of the work will be done in class. The students will have to read SOME of the book and study at home.

Classroom Reading

Today we read Door in the Wall in class. The students all have a study packet with questions about the reading. We will work on this and vocabulary from the book. The work will be done in class and at home. Our first quiz on pages 1-75 will be near the end of next week.

Spelling Unit 16 Week of January 8

Spelling Unit 16 homework for Friday (January 12) Students are to complete pages 67, #1-15, 68 #1-11, and 69 #1-8. A one page, ten spelling word story is also part of this assignment.

December/January Book Project

ReadingThe monthly book project reading deadline was made longer due to the holiday break. At the end of the month of January students will receive a list of projects that will be due within the first two weeks of Feb. More details to follow.

Prompt Review

Today we looked at our last prompts. The holistic average has increased to a 9.28. Way to go!!!!

Spelling Unit 15 week of January 2nd

Spelling for the week is Unit 15. Complete pages 63 numbers 1-13, 64 #1-13, and 65 #1-4. Use 10 of the twenty words in a one-page creative story. We only have three days to complete the work this week. Turn it in on Friday.

Looking at the month of January

The month of January looks to be a busy one. We will begin the reading of Door in the Wall, a medieval tale, which will be our class novel that we all read together. In addition to this the class has been reading a self-selected genre over the months of December and January that will result in the monthly book project.
